Hi. Whenever I am trying to enable the Firewall of Windows, the Windows error code 0x80070422 is occurring. How to resolve it?
Hi. The Windows error code 0x80070422 occurs when the Windows Firewall is enabled in Internet Explorer 9. For handling that a malware scan is performed, and install the Windows to the updated version and later, click on the Windows Firewall from search box and turn it on for enabling it. If any notification appears related to security, then click on run.
Error code “0x80070422” usually appears on Windows 8.x and Windows 10 when you try to enable the Windows Firewall. This error will prevent you from turning on the Windows Firewall. First thing to do is scan your computer for possible virus infection. Download Sophos Virus Removal Tool. Once installed, start Sophos then wait for the virus signature database to get updated.
When updating is complete, click to start scanning your computer. Sophos scans everything on your computer including devices connected via USB port. When a virus is found at the end of the scan, remove it then repeat the scan over and over until it no longer detects a virus. Don’t disable your antivirus when using the tool. Sophos works alongside any antivirus program you may have.

If this doesn’t work, try checking if the Windows Firewall service is running. Windows Firewall needs certain services to be enabled for it to work properly. Press the Windows key + R to bring up the “Run” dialog then type without quotes “services.msc” then hit Enter. In “Services” window, scroll down and locate the “Windows Defender” service then double-click it to open the “Properties”.
In the properties window, make sure “Startup type” is set to “Automatic”. If the service is not running, click “Start” to start the service manually. When you are finished, click “OK” then try turning on the Windows Firewall again. If this doesn’t work, restart the computer and try again. If this doesn’t work, try the “Startup Repair”.
Insert your Windows installation DVD on the optical drive then restart your computer. Boot your computer from the DVD then press any key when you see “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD…” On the next screen, set your language and keyboard options and then select “Repair your computer”.
Wait until it is finished scanning your computer for Windows installations then select your installation and then click “Next”. On the next screen, select “Startup Repair” then wait until the repair is finished.
