Both the Personal computer and desktop aren’t nearly for the same meaning; it has some bit of difference. It is like a desktop is a computer that is placed on the top of a desk and used by anybody or by a single user. A desktop is a static device or system that is used from a single fixed place, unlike the laptops and notebooks; whereas, a personal computer is used only by a single user entirely.

The desktop can be a PC too, but a Personal computer is a system for one at a time in general, so you cannot define it asa desktop which is for general. These are the basic differences between a Pc and a desktop based on its usages and definition. You can use a personal computer like a laptop or desktop, notebook, etc. but, a desktop is a whole computer system since its invention that is placed in its usual manner.
