Issue with Firefox 8 and CCleaner

Hi. I have Firefox 8 installed on my Windows Vista PC. But I don't actually use it. I preferred to use IE9 instead. But when running the CCleaner, I got an alert that I should close Firefox. I noticed that the service is already started though I'm not really using it. How can I correct this issue?

Firefox service

You must close Firefox/Mozilla to allow the Internet Cache to be cleaned.

Otherwise this process will be skipped.

Yes Ccleaner does need all the browsers to be closed. It must have been due to the option that you might have left checked during the installation process of the Mozilla Firefox 8. As the service is running in the background and not the browser itself so you have to close the service by using the following steps.

  1. Go to Start
  2. Open Run and in it type msconfig.
  3. In the next opened window. Go to services tab and see for this Mozilla Service.
  4. Uncheck it and after that save it.
  5. Now go to the Startup tab and see for any thing related to Mozilla.
  6. Uncheck those things related to Mozilla and save it.
  7. Click OK and restart your computer. Now you will be able to run Ccleaner without any issue.
