Hi, suddenly my internet connection became so low. I checked my connection with a typical website software and it shows that the connection is at 512kbps (which is the normal) but it takes hours to load a page.
Brody, does this occur frequently? Or was it an once time event? If it was a one time event then that's not an issue. It happens sometime that the servers are down and it takes a bit longer to load the pages. However, if it occurs frequently, then there is an issue. You did not mention that is it one particular page that slows down or all the pages slow down? If it is one page, then its not the issue of your internet service. Its the problem of the server having the website you are looking for. If all the pages are down, it means there is some issue with your internet service. You can check with your internet service provider regarding the issue. Probably they are having some issues at their backend which propagates to you. Also check your router configuration for any possible error there. I hope your problem gets solved.

if you are using a wireless router than this is a common problem, though the connection is showing the usual speed, but you are getting a poor one,this is because
the router uses 2.5GHz band, which is also used by microwave, cell phones, garage door's remote control and other wireless devices.
The main reason can be interference between them, try turning off the other devices and you might find a reasonable improvement…
however, mostly wrieless router's problem arises due to, improper plug in of the Ethernet or WAN cable, please make sure they areplugged properly.

1. may be your computer infected by an internet virus,so run antivirus software regularly to remove these virus from your computer.
2. if you are using DSL connection so you need to know DSL speeds are effected by the location of network,the further from the central office of the telephone company you are,
3. most of internet connectivity can be solved by turning the modem off and on again,turn the modem off for 20 second and turn it on again.
4. run spyware software ,spyware can run silently in the background when you use your computer.
5. the amount of free space on your hard drive can also effect your computer speed.

I didn't know that so much was going on in the background while I just surf the internet. The solutions not only solved the speed problem of internet, but they also improved the system's performance by a number of times speed.
