Hi user

The maximum temperature for Intel Pentium D 2.8 Ghz is about 63 degree Celsius. Your CPU is overheating if it reaches this temperature. In fact the actual temperature that is safe enough for your cpu is much lower than that, at about 40 – 50 degree Celsius.

To reduce the overheating of cpu remove the heat sink off the motherboard and clean it with a vacuum cleaner or compressed air to remove the dust and debris. You can also apply thermal paste to the base of heatsink. This will increase the efficiency of the heatsink by enabling it to conduct heat from the processor faster.

You can buy thermal paste in a computer shop.
