Installed window 7, Using custom install option

I installed window 7 on my Compaq laptop yesterday, using custom install option, which deleted all my files in c drive. Some of the deleted files contained useful information. Please help me in getting those deleted files back. There are many software available on the internet, please suggest which one to use.

Hi James,
 
Windows 7 has an amazing feature that saves your old data while performing a custom installation. 
 
Go to your system drive. There you should find a folder named 'Windows.old'. You can pull out your important files from there. 
 
Also, you can use the Microsoft provided tool 'Fix it' to do that automatically for you. Download the software from here, then Run the program and follow the instructions. 
 
Hopefully this will solve your problem.
