Hi everyone,

That action occurred ,when I installed the Audio Driver after the Windows Xp operating system was successfully installed.

Actually I upgraded the OS from Windows 98 to Windows XP.

The next move I applied was, to reinstall the drivers, but the error still exists. The next option I did was research the driver thru online, but apparently the installer was failed to complete.

Can anyone help or have an idea on how to fix and complete the installation?

I think my actions didn't help the problem.

I have to install the drivers in order for me to use the computer.

Thanks.

Every time we do an upgrade on our OS we sometimes see driver issues like you are facing now. First of all you need go to the website of your motherboard (if your sound card is built in) OR sound card (for non-built in) manufacturer and search for drivers for windows xp. Once you are able to find the driver online, you should download and install them to your PC. I would also suggest that you download and install all the latest drivers for all hardware in your PC to make sure all devices are working correctly and does not give you any trouble when you want everything in your PC to work perfectly.

Best of luck!

Hello David

In your post you should have mentioned what sound card do you have.

Realtek, but the model would have been very useful in order for me to give you a more accurate solution.

From what I see in the picture, you are trying to install Realtek audio driver R1.97 (2.60).

That is not the latest driver.

You can go to the link I provided, and download the latest driver, if you know exactly what sound card you have.

Realtek Audio Driver

As a general solution, I advice you to download a program called Uniblue Driver Scanner 2013.

It is very simple to use. And it is a software that scans your computer, and updates all your drivers that are outdated.

You can download the software from here:

I hope you find this solution helpful.
