Insert text inside a crescent shape image in Adobe CS4

While working with Adobe CS4 on an OS X 10.5.8, I am having issues with my fonts. I created a crescent shape with the circle tool and the subtract pathfinder and whenever I try to type a text inside it.

I am getting an error message that state.

You must click on a non-compound, non masking path to create text inside a path.

I don’t know exactly what was wrong so I am seeking for help to resolve this.

Hopefully a good method to do it.

If your problem is putting your selected font in the custom shape that you’ve done. Make sure that shape is not yet rasterized in order for you to put the text.

Also when you point your cursor while text tool is activate you must see a tilted line in order for you to put the text. I think you don't have a problem with your font its just that you didn't make it right and you've just done something before you put your text in the shape.

Follow the sequence in order this is the arrangement in order make your shape > then activate the text tool > point your cursor in the shape line > you must see a tilted line which is the sign that you can still put a text in a path.

I hope that these will help you solve your problem.
