As Indians have the tendency to buy new products during festivals, the smartphone market demanded more smartphone shipments. A recent research conducted say that majority of the Indian smartphone users’ change their phones within twelve to twenty four months. i.e., majority change their devices once in a year or once in two years. Is India growing very fast in Smartphone market?

Is India growing very fast in Smartphone market?

According to IDC (International Data Corporation), India is the fastest growing smartphone market share for the third quarter (July-September) of this year. Several smartphone vendors have contributed to this growth and are as follows:

Samsung 24%  

Micromax 20%

Lava 8%

Karbonn 8%

Motorola 5%

Other 36%

 

                       

This market growth has been attributed to low inflation rates and positive consumer attitude.

 

You can also observe that the Asia Pacific market share between smartphones and feature phones are changing. Since the third quarter of 2013 to third quarter 2014, the smartphone market share was 19%, 22%, 28%, 29%, and 32% respectively for that period. The feature phone market share has been on the decline with 81%, 78%, 72%, 71%, and 68%.
