Hello. Direct Access Windows 2012 R2 is a feature that allows connection to organization network resources (without the need for traditional Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections). It is a role service of the Remote Access server role. In Windows Server 2012 R2, Direct Access gives us multiple simplified deployment paths which include Basic, Advanced, as well as Enterprise.
You can deploy both Direct Access and Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) on the same server in Windows Server 2012 R2, allowing you to provide Direct Access connectivity to supported clients and providing VPN access to remote clients that don’t support Direct Access.
