Hi technical staffs,

I am a programmer and have built a program for my business. Now, I am done with the program and I thought my program is running at its best. Recently, I just found out from one of my employees that there is key function in the computer that made my employees cheat to work.

Sorry for providing not much about my program and all, but I hope you understand that I would like to make this confidential. Now, going back to my issue, pressing F12 would make my employees cheat on their jobs. My question is, is there a software or program that will tweak F12 to a different function, like going to an application such as MS Paint? I do not want to tweak on the keyboard settings on the computers as they can easily change them. Or some registry change will also be okay.

I am hoping for some helpful suggestions.

How to change F12 function

Hi

There is a program you can use to map your keyboard and change its functionality, the program is called SharpKeys. The program modifies the registry to change the functionality of a specific key or completely render it unusable. Here, I'm going to teach you how to use this program and disable the F12 from your computer's keyboard.

  • First download SharpKeys here.
  • Install it an run it, if you're in Windows Vista or 7, make sure to run SharpKeys as administrator.
  • After running, click the button Add at the lower left corner of the window.
  • A new window should appear, look for the F12 key on the left side and then select it then select the most top selection on the right side Turn key off. It should look like this:
  • Click OK.
  • After clicking OK, the window should close and you'll be taken back to the previous window. This time it should look like this:
  • Now click the button Write to Registry.
  • Restart your computer.

If you want to revert the changes you've made, just select the one you added and click the Delete button or just click Delete All to remove everything, after that click the Write Registry button again and restart your computer.
