I need help installing Civilization III

I own a Civilization III CD. I tried to install the game to my laptop but the process was unsuccessful and an error message saying “I/O happening 23” appeared. I was given three options, "abort, hear, and take".

I thought that maybe, this has something to do with my antivirus so I disabled my Norton Antivirus and private firewall but I still got the same error.

How do I go about this problem and install this program to my laptop? Help me please.

If the Laptop is running on Windows 7, check that all the necessary device-driver is installed properly. Commonly all game runs under 32 Bit or x86 mode smoothly.

64 Bit Windows often give an error or does not run much software as 32 Bit Windows. Again, if Windows XP is installed then check all the driver is installed properly.

Also, check the games documentation that the laptops configuration meets all the requirements to run the game properly. The next thing needs to be checked is, CD or DVD (which the game is installed from) has no scratch or spot.

If the Game-CD/DVD is ok then the DVD-Rom needs to be checked out for Poor CD Reading fault, and it might be necessary to clean up the DVD-Rom with CD-DVD Cleaner.

Sometimes old power & data cable causes this I/O reading error. Changing these cables may solve the error problem.
