I have a Huawei SmartAX 882 ADSL modem and I recently found out, that all the ping requests I make are bounced.

My connection works normally, I can access sites without a problem, but I'm getting a,  "timed out"  in any address I'm pinging in the command prompt.

C:WINNTSystem32command.com

Microsoft (R) Windows DOS <C>Copyright Microsoft Corp 1990-1999.

Q:>ping 130.164.58.224

Pinging 130.164.58.224 with 32 bytes of data:

Request timed out.

Request timed out.

Request timed out.

Hello there,

Ok, here’s your situation, you cannot ping but you can browse.

I have a Huawei SmartAX 882 ADSL modem and I recently found out, that all the ping requests I make are bounced. My connection work normally and I access sites, without a problem. But I'm getting a, "timed out" in any address when I'm pinging in the command prompt.

This has little pros and cons. Some Internet Service Provider does permit ping and some don’t. Some websites also allow ping test and some don’t.

Good thing about Ping test is, we can determine if it’s the network problem of just a firewall.

In this case, I would say that it’s the firewall on your Huawei smartAX 882 ADSL modem that is blocking the entire ping test. You need to have the administrator log-in, to access the GUI of your modem.

Trace route can also determine if the Internet is fine.

To do trace route:

Go Start, Run, CMD, and type tracert https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl. If it times out before 6 hops it means, something is wrong with the server.

Work around for this is, you need to contact your Internet Service Provider to change the settings of the firewall of the modem firmware.

Feel free to contact us if needed.

Dear GheoTeo,

Thanks for sharing.

Dear there are some problems, that can disturb the adsl router's network access.

The first thing that is not suitable with the adsl router is IP address.

In fact if you want only to get internet access, then you have no need to give IP address. If you apply IP address then the network access will be terminated.

Next thing that you have to check is firewall settings. Check the firewall settings and turn the firewall off.

After these settings, restart your computer and open command prompt.

Type this command.

C:/>ping google.com press enter.

Now it will work properly.

Thanks
