Hello

I have a problem with my System Restore. When I try to run it, it says it has encountered a problem and has to close. I need to restore my system to the last good configuration but I can’t get past the error and I don’t understand where it is coming from. Is my system crashing? What should to do?

Need your help. Thanks in advance.

Hello April Howard,

The common cause for the error you describe is corrupted Windows system files.  You could try using your installation CD to repair your Windows installation or, better yet, just use System File Checker.

To run System File Checker (abbreviated as "SFC"), just open a Command Prompt as Administrator.  How?

Click the "start" button and navigate to Accessories.  Highlight "Command Prompt", right-click and select "Run as…".  Select the option "The following user:" and enter the username and password of the administrator account (depends on what you set during installation of Windows).

Once you have the Command Prompt, enter the following command:

sfc /scannow

Sit back and wait for SFC to check all your Windows system files and automatically replace any missing or corrupted system file.

Hope this helps!
