Hello Friends,

My brother purchased MS office 2007 software to open my documents and edit them. I am unable to install the software after giving license key. I am badly in need of MS office as I need to edit my documents.

Please fix the internal server error so that I can continue with my work.

Thanks for the solutions.

This happens when you do not have full control permissions to the folder that has administrative installation point. Meaning, the administrator of the computer doesn't grant you to install these application. To resolve this error, do the following steps:

1. Click Start or the Window button, type msconfig.exe, then press Enter. This will open the System Configuration Utility.

2. Select the General tab, choose Selective Startup.

3. Uncheck the Load Startup Items.

4. On the Services tab, check the Hide all Microsoft Services, click Disable All.

5. Click OK, click Restart.

You'll be in Selective Startup when the computer restarts. Now install the Microsoft Office program. After the installation is complete, you need to get out of Selective Startup. Do the following steps:

1. Click Start or the Window button, type msconfig.exe, then press Enter. This will open the System Configuration Utility again.

2. Select General tab, choose "Normal Startup – load all device drivers and services".

3. Click OK, click Restart.

If you're still receiving errors, you need to change the permissions of the default temporary folder. Here's how:

1. Click Start, type %temp%, press Enter to go to default temporary folder.

2. In the address bar, on the left of Temp (the name is "Local" by default) click the folder. Right-click the Temp folder, select Properties.

3. Click the Security tab, click Edit.

4. Click Add.

5. Type everyone, click Check Names. "everyone" should have underlined now.

6. Choose Full Control under Allow, click OK.

Now try to install your Microsoft Office.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jafet windsor,

During installation or upgrade Office 2010, this error may occur if there is no permission to access to the “Temp” folder.  Lets see step by step how to fix it.

1.      Open “Run” dialog box by pressing “WIN+R” keys.

2.      Type “services.msc” and press Enter key.

3.      Scroll to find “Windows Installer” and then stop the “Windows Installer” by right clicking on it.

4.      Again, Restart the “Windows Installer”.

5.      Then open the “Temp” folder by typing “%temp%” on the “Run” dialog box.

6.      Right click empty area in the “Temp” folder and select properties on the pop-up menu.

7.      Click “Edit” button under the “Security” tab. (Separate dialog box will be appeared)

8.      Click “Add” button on the newly opened dialog box.

9.      In the “Enter the object names for select” box, type “everyone” and click “Check Names” and then click “OK”

10.   Under “Permissions for Everyone”, select “Full Control” check box.

11.   Ready! Try installing Office 2012

Hope this will help.

Both solutions that you suggested are excellent. I wish to point out that Fraank Waster’s solution helped me to understand why I was getting errors. The step by step procedure that he suggested worked very well and I am really happy. Using your solution, I am able to configure it in my computer, and as a result my problem is solved.
