It works great for old operating systems and slower hardware like CPUs with Intel Pentium 4. I’ve been using this tool for several months now and I am quite satisfied.
You just need to get used to it especially when recording with different screen sizes. CamStudio allows you to record your screen with varying sizes: region, fixed region, window, and full screen. To access these options, in CamStudio, click Region and select from among the four options available.
When you select Region, you can select a portion of your screen that you want to record. The recording area will be limited to that area only. When you select Fixed Region, you can specify the size of the recording area in pixels like 640 x 480, 800 x 600, and so on. When you select Window, you will be prompted to select which window to record.
Selecting Full Screen will record your entire screen. Anything displayed in your entire screen will be recorded. To download CamStudio, click CamStudio Free Screen Recorder. If you need to unzip the file, do it using 7-Zip. Download 7-Zip from 7-Zip File Archiver if you don’t have it. Use the supplied password to unpack. Once unpacked, run “camstudio_lite_274.exe” to install CamStudio.
The package also includes “CamStudioCodec 1.5” which you can install optionally. It is the latest codec for CamStudio.
