I don’t use Internet Explorer as a browser; the add-on feature is an update to the Internet Explorer for detecting internet connection issues, with tools to resolve them. As I use other browser do I need to be bothered with this?

The HP Network Check is a part of the HP Support Assistant. Only if using internet explorer it will be essential to install its driver from the HP website take a look into Device Manager, and it should present an “unknown device” error if a driver is faulty or missing. If it is showing the error, download the driver from HP.

If the network adapter is not shown in Device Manager at all and also no errors are listed, then the adapter may have developed a fault. That’s a quite common case on HP computers, especially with wireless adapters.
