Hi. I am Kwaku Cyte and I have a little problem with my HP DV6 pavillion battery. When I put it in my laptop i always get information from the task bar that, I should consider replacing my battery but my sister has a hybrid hp-compaq laptop that uses the same battery. When i put the battery in her laptop it works perfectly. I want to know whether the problem can be fixed or i should go in for a new battery?

Hello Miss Cyte,

Try this first. Remove the battery and unplug charger from your laptop. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then release. Replug everything in and try again.

If the problem persists and if your laptop is still under warranty just return your product to the nearest authorized HP service center. Check with the manufacturer’s website regarding their address. I am sure they will be happy to replace your product. This will be the quickest way to solve your problem

If your warranty has lapsed then it would be better to have your battery replaced. Buy a new one. Most usual cause of battery failure is overheating. A faulty battery may cause your product to be faulty as well.

Hope this helps.

If the battery works in another system but it doesn't work in your system, then the battery should be working and fine and the problem should be on your system. Try updating your computer's BIOS to the latest version and see if that helps. If it doesn't you may need to look at the hardware of your computer specifically the motherboard. It may not be getting a good connection with the battery or it ability to properly detect your battery's status has become defective. If your computer is still under warranty it would be best to call their tech support people for assistance and warranty claim.
