Hello experts,

How will I be able to protect desktop shortcut?

I think my computer desktop was corrupted by a malicious ware viruses and all my game shortcuts was disabled and cannot be open unless I got to the application of the game and run it as an administrator.

It was a hassle on my part; give me a way to make it simpler.

You need to download Shortcut Virus Remover.

It removes shortcut viruses from computer and flash drive as well and recover all the damaged data.

It's a free software you can easily download it.

Hello Amanda Mitchel,

Scan your computer using an anti-virus. On your firewall so that virus cant affect your Files easily.
 
Or simply replace your shortcuts with a new one.

This problem occurs due to attack of viruses to your windows registry files and infected files in system32 folder.

You may have to scan your full computer with any trustworthy antivirus.

After full scan, please re-start your computer your all shortcut will start working.

If you are using Windows XP, and have set the shortcut available to all user profiles in Documents and settings, set the permissions to read-only.

This way, other users won’t be able to delete the shortcuts on your desktop.

This is a common problem with windows desktop computers affected with viruses.

To repair or solve this problem, you need an anti-virus program that can eliminate the virus and restore the icon functionality.

If after repair, your icons do not work, then delete them from desktop and make shortcuts from the app again.

This will work.

There are 2 ways on how to protect your desktop shortcut.

1. You should accessing the shortcut, assuming you're running on NTFS. First, right click the SHORTCUT, click Properties, then Choose Security tab and edit permissions according to which user accessing the shortcut and do not allow them permission(s) to delete. another way is.

2. Create folder in your C: drive and Shortcut in the folder. Next, go to your taskbar, right click and choose toolbar, then New toolbar. In the dialog box, select the folder you create in step 1. Hoping that it will help you.
