How to update ios5 for ipod touch 2008 model?

I can't log in to many apps including instagram because it says my ios is not updated. The problem is that I can't seem to find where to update it. Please give me a detailed answer on this one.

How to update ios5 for ipod touch 2008 model?

Hello Rhebz,

Update your device wirelessly (available in iOS 5 and later) . At first ensure your device is connected to a power source and connected your device to a WiFi network.

 

Then go to Setting > General >Software Update. IOS will automatically check for available updates. After the download has completed tap Install to update your iOS.

Hello,

This is how you update your ios5 for your iPod:

Create a back up copy for your device to avoid losing your data after update. Update your device by clicking on the “check for update button” in the summary pane for your device to make iTunes check for updates. Everything going well, ios5 starts downloading from iTunes to your computer, wait for a short while your device will restart and begin installing the software. Hope this helps.
