How To Troubleshoot 0x800704ec Error In Windows 10?

You need to make some changes in the registry to fix the 0x800704ec error.

Method 1

a. Press Windows + R key.
b. Type Regedit and press enter.

 

c. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender.

d. Double-click on Default.
e. In the value data option, enter ‘0.’
f. Save the changes, and restart your PC.
g. Turn on Windows Defender.

Method 2

a. Press Windows + R.
b. Type gpedit.msc, and press enter. (You need to log in as administrator)
c. Go to Computer Configuration-> Administrative Templates-> Windows Component-> Windows Defender.

d. Double-click on Turn off Windows Defender.

e. Click on Not Configured.
f. Save the changes.
g. Turn on Windows Defender
