The backups created by iTunes are often a mystery such that no one can find them in their systems. They usually end up taking a lot of space. So here is how you can find iTunes backups of your iPhone or iPod or iPad in a Windows OS:

1) Click the start button.

2) Now type in %appdata% and click enter to open the AppData folder.

3) Now navigate to Apple computer, then Mobile Sync and then Backup.

Once you are there, you can either move or delete as many backups as you want. Now, unfortunately, it is difficult to identify which of them are from phones and which of them are from iPad or iPods. Now to identify them you need to the information in iTunes which are as follows:

1)From the Edit menu, opens preferences.

2) Now click the “Devices” tab.

3) Now you can see the devices of which the backups are made according to their dates.

4) Drag the mouse over the backups to view more details.

If you regularly backup your iPhone on your computer with iTunes, you also need to check regularly the amount of space it occupies on your hard drive. If you don’t check it, it will become bigger and bigger. For users with Windows XP, you can find the backup data in “c:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\”. For users with Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can find it in “c:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\”.

The last path also applies to Windows 8.x and Windows 10. Once you locate it, don’t delete all backup files. Just delete the very old ones so you will have a better fallback in case the most recent backup got damaged. Also, make sure to always update iTunes.
