I'm just curious if the strongest or the most durable Firewall can still be affected by a virus?

I know Firewall is for the computer hardware but I'm also curious about the security for online transactions especially when we deal with out payment information.

Windows fire wall is a internet security that is provided by windows its self but it is not the strongest nor it is for commercial use because it can be off by third party soft like clever worm. So it is not always dependable. Famous internet security like AVG or Kaspersky can do the job well.

You can depended on them not for only fire wall but also for virus but if you worried about just fire wall you can use commercial fire wall soft like New ZoneAlarm, it is really a great soft.

So you can use it here is the link: https://www.pcworld.com/article/117072/article.html for review.

Hello Trz1122,

The firewall is a windows software, but you can still get some third party firewalls from the internet and install on your computer if you want to. But the firewall, as any other application, is vulnerable to being attacked by a virus. Normally when the firewall has been attacked by a virus it will cease turning on no matter how hard you try to turn it on.

So to ensure that your firewall does not get attacked, make sure that you download the latest updates that boost the strength of the firewall and therefore protect it from being overpowered by some potential viruses. Always use an antivirus side to side with the firewall to protect your system.

In computer, a firewall is firmware or software that implements a set of rules about what data packets will be permitted to enter or leave a network. Firewalls are integrated into a wide range of networked devices to filter or strain traffic and decrease the risk that malicious packets traveling over the public internet can impact or force the security of a private network.

Firewalls can also be purchased as standalone applications. The Microsoft Windows operating system has a built-in firewall. But unlike commercial firewall applications that can be purchased, the Windows Firewall provides only basic firewall protection. There are two main types of firewalls: host-based and network-based. A host-based firewall is the type you install on individual servers that tracks incoming and outgoing signals.

A network-based firewall is the type that can be found built-in to a cloud’s infrastructure or can also be a virtual firewall service. Though there are only two main types, you can find many different types in different places controlling different activities.
