Hello experts,

I used to write poems in MS Word. But I am not at home and will stay in my aunt's place for few days. Her computer doesn't have MS Word. So I wrote in Wordpad. But I get confused on which format should I save my work. Should I save it as rich text or open documents? That's all I wanted to know. Which file format should I choose to save my work?

After completing the document in wordpad to save that document follow the steps below.

1. Go  to FILE option at top of the toolbar click on FILE MENU.

2. It displays list of options, select the option SAVE AS.

3. It  takes to another window. In which you have to select one of the Drive where you want to save the document  .

4. After selecting the drive, give a desire name to the document  and make sure that the extension of the file must be RTF          (Rich Text File).

5. Finally, click on SAVE option.

When saving a plain text in Wordpad, you can choose to save it in Rich Text format. Most of the Word Processors are capable of reading and writing RTF. Just simply click File and then Save. And then choose Rich As Text (RTF) on the Save as Type field.

Hope you got the answer!

Hi,

You are query is right. When you write simple plain text, you can save it in either format. But as far as formatting is concerned you need it to be saved in rich Text format option. So that all you’re formatting is saved. This is the point where there is a difference between notepad and word pad. By default it saves in rich text format. Other Supported formats are also there to serve you better. For example you can save to open office document i.e. compatible with any other open source office product. I think I have answered your question.

You have got nothing to worry about saving file types.

Just save your document as .rtf format. You can use MS Word 2007 to convert it into .docx file.

Here is a techyv page for this purpose.
