Dear Liam,

There is a freeware program that only works with iTunes 10.5.3

Removes drm protection from your itunes movie files/songs (.m4v, .mp4, .mp3) for playback on dvd-players etc. for the big screen experience

It is called Requiem 3.3 for the PC

Also, make sure you have the latest java installed on your PC too. You can get latest java from their website:
https://www.java.com/en/download/

This software will skim through your itunes library and automatically remove DRM protection from files. And its FREE

In paid softwares, Tunebite 9 is the recommended software for this task. It does have a trial-period if you would like to try it out first.
It can be downloaded here

DRM stands for Digital Rights Management. It is the copyright protection applied on digital media. If you want to remove the DRM protection from your DVD then you are probably referring to DVD video discs. The video or movie on a DVD video disc is protected and cannot be copied to your hard drive or to other devices.

Videos from unprotected DVD video discs can be ripped and converted to different video formats but not possible on protected DVD video discs. If you have a DVD video disc and you want to remove the DRM protection that means you need to rip the disc and convert or save the video to a digital format such as MP4, AVI, WMV, and others.

There are many commercial DVD applications that can rip DVDs but I’m not sure if there is one that can rip videos from DRM-protected DVDs. Most of them can only rip videos from unprotected DVDs. But there is a way you can remove that DRM protection from DVDs using HandBrake.

It is a video conversion tool that can convert videos from almost any format to a selection of modern and widely supported codecs. It supports Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10 both 32-bit and 64-bit. Download and install HandBrake. Once installed, you need to install “libdvdcss” to allow HandBrake to rip videos from protected DVDs. For 32-bit Microsoft Windows, download libdvdcss for 32-bit.

For 64-bit Microsoft Windows, download libdvdcss for 64-bit. After downloading the file, copy or put it on the installation folder of HandBrake located in “C:\Program Files\Handbrake”. And that’s it. You can now rip your DRM-protected DVDs with HandBrake. For instructions on how to rip a DVD, head down to How to Rip a DVD to your Computer.
