How to recover files from a defective hard drive

I replaced my hard drive because the old one is already defective. There are lots of pictures and videos that I wanted to recover from that hard drive.

I don’t know how to do it. It was the Seagate 500GB SATA. When I tried to use it, it doesn’t boot to windows. It just says hard drive failed. I hope I can recover those files using my new hard drive that is currently working.

I’ve done research on the internet but I can’t find anything.

I hope you can give me a solution for this problem. This would be a great help.

Hi David,

Try to use one of these solutions:

1. Try to use a "USB to SATA" cable so you can browse all the content of your hard drive if it's not broken,

2. Try to use the "USB to SATA" cable with a Linux LiveOS use Ubuntu and browse your hard drive,

If it's broken

3. Try to use a data recovery software like "R tudio data recovery"

It can help

Hope that helps you resolving your problem.

Try using the converters of port such as USB to SATA and then attach in on the back panel of your computer and see if it will be detected by your CPU.

You can also try the refrigeration method. Pack your hard disk in a secured plastic bag and make sure that no moist or anything like it will get inside your hard drive. I have tried mine on a 24 hour wait. Then run it back again. Remember that it doesn't work all the time but it's worth a try. I have a 2 out 5 success rate for doing this.

You can also refer to another technician and ask them if they can fix your hard drive error as they have more knowledge and experience on dealing with this.
