How to recover data from external WD hard drive?

I have an external WD hard drive that has about 500 GB data on it. Someone accidentally stepped on it and now it is not running. I am really worried about the data because it is really important to me. Can someone please tell me how can I recover the data? Also please guide me if the hard drive is repairable?

Yes, the hard drive is repairable.

You just need to go to computer technician he will repair that.

And then if in the repairing procedure you derive is formatted, then you can recover the format data by using the recovery tools software.

Opening a hard drive, if that is what is needed to get it running again, is not something that should be undertaken by just a computer repair shop.

Opening a hard drive, with the exposure to the delicate internals that would now be done, should only be done by a professional data recovery company. They would have a cleanroom, a dust-free environment, in which to work on your hard drive.

If the drive was still running, you might be able to use hard drive data recovery software, but that it is not running, sort of precludes a software approach.
