Hi guys,

How to put a network password? I just set up 5 computers as a local area network to share files from the server to the other units. I want to have a privacy regarding those files, I don’t want other users to access the server’s files. Please help me to set a password for my network.

Expecting some help, thank you.

The best solution is to remove “File or Printer Sharing” from the “Windows Firewall”. Or “Block” everyone from your “Work Group” to block the “Sharing”. Go to your “Control Panel” and click on “Network Connection” right click on it and select ”Properties”.

Under the “Advance” tab click on “Settings”. Under the settings go to “Exceptions” and uncheck “File and Printer Sharing” two times click on “OK” for saving the settings. The last step is to “Restart” computer to “Enable” the following changes.

By default, Windows does not have options for password protecting a folder. However, there are several alternative ways to protect and restrict access to your shared folders. For shared subfolders that you don't want others to have access, set these folders as private (you can access that part under sharing and security property for that folder). You can also enable your guest account and set a password for that, so that users who want access your PC would need to log in.
