How to protect your computer?

Hi,

You have to install Windows on a new machine or you format your disks before a start. Then here are four proposals which consist entirely of free products.

Protection using a firewall and tweaks (do not use the pseudo firewall Windows)

Internal defense using antivirus (ESET Nod32 or KAV Kaspersky Antivirus), anti-spyware and Anti-Trojan (AVG Anti-Spyware).

A defense against the invasion of your mailbox by spam (MailInBlack or SpamPal).

Defense against pop up sites (advertising) and other sites dirty by the real-protection during your navigation using a pop blocker or ad-blocker.

You can add another strategy of defense with a router or modem hardware router using NAT (Network Address Translation) to completely hide your IPs against port scans and block all unwanted communication.

How to protect your computer?

To make sure your computer is always protected against viruses, spyware, and other forms of malware, ensure that you are using an antivirus on your machine. Also, it is not enough to just install an antivirus on your computer and expect that you are going to be protected. You also need to make sure that your antivirus program is always updated.

When you download and install an antivirus program on a computer, usually, the virus signature database that comes with it is several years old and is already outdated. It is not yet effective in detecting latest threats. But once you update your antivirus, the virus signature database it uses is replaced with the latest. It is now effective in detecting different threats.

An example of an antivirus that you can use is the ESET NOD32 Antivirus. The free trial version is provided with 30 days free use. Another one is the ESET Smart Security.
