How to open rtf Plugin for edition

I wonder if something can open rtf plugin made for edition. I need to insert some different names to the rtf for my work. Working with text editor is necessary because opening with MS Word making my document invalid. So, I am searching for that text editor which could format that rtf file, for example, by making its text in different colors. Thank you for your help!

How to open rtf Plugin for edition

Hello Angela,

You can use the in built "Wordpad" in windows operating systems to format a rtf file. It can be used to change text color and do some more formatting like Bold, Italic and etc. 

Also there's a way to convert a rtf file to a DOC file. If you can open it in office Word, after opening Click Save As and save it as a DOC file. If you can't open it in Word open it in Wordpad and Click Save as and save it as a "open office XML document"(docx). Then you will be able to open it in word and do necessary formatting.
