How to make a phone call using a modem in linux?

Hi,

I use modem with linux. I want to make or receive phone call with the modem. How to can I make a phone call using modem in linux? Do I need any extra software? If yes, what is that? Please, tell me in detail about it.

How to make a phone call using a modem in linux?

Hello William,

It depends on what kind of modem you are using (hardware modem/ winmodem). If you are using winmodem you need to have a driver to configure this. If you are using a hardware modem it will be very easy to communicate with. A scripting language will pass control arguments if you are using hardware modem. Then use the modems built in ability to recognize DTMF to pass output back.
