How long should it take for my phone battery to charge fully?

My phone battery takes a long time to charge fully yet it runs down within the next six hours. I am not happy about it and I wanted to know the cause of this condition and if it will be necessary to change my phone battery? I do not want to mention the brand of the phone but the only information I can give is that it is not an Android phone.

How long should it take for my phone battery to charge fully?

The battery life of your phone depends on how long you've been using it since you purchased it and your battery consumption. Running many applications reduces the battery life and you might need to close applications while you are not using them. Also talk time consumes a lot of charge, considering the phone takes long to charge, the battery might not be the problem. However smartphones don't keep charge for so long but your might need to reduce the number of running applications and turn off internet connection when you are not using.
