How Is Windows 7 Starter Password Reset Possible?

If you lost your password in Microsoft Windows 7 and you cannot log in to your account, you can delete your password without even logging in to your account. This is possible using the default “Administrator” account built-in to Microsoft Windows. Unfortunately, this built-in user account is automatically disabled and hidden after creating your user account. To use this account, you need to restart your computer in Safe Mode.

To restart in Safe Mode, restart your computer normally then press “F8” on your keyboard before the Windows logo appears. In “Advanced Options Menu”, select “Safe Mode” then hit Enter twice to boot the computer in Safe Mode. In the login screen, select the “Administrator” account. Once you are logged in, click “Start”, “Control Panel”, and then “User Accounts”.

Next, select your user account then click either “Change my password” or “Remove my password”. If you select “Change my password”, you need to enter your current password and then enter the new password twice to verify. You also need to enter a hint for your new password to give you a clue in case you lost the password.
