When I try to open an excel workbook from SharePoint I could not open it. I got an error message saying ‘that’s a big workbook. Unfortunately, we can’t open a workbook. You’ll need to open this in Excel.’ However, I need it open in SharePoint, is there any alternate ways to solve this problem other than opening in Excel. Please help me, thanks a lot.

How I will open Excel Workbook in SharePoint
There is a limitation to the size of workbook selected inside “SharePoint Central Administration”. Due to this reason, you’re unable to open files that are larger than 5 MB. The limitation to your case is 5 MB and the file you’re trying to open is more than that. You can increase the file size value by doing the following:

Open “SharePoint Central Administration”.

Go to Application Management >> Manage Service Applications >> ExcelServiceApp >> Trusted File Locations.

Click “Address”.

Beneath “Workbook Properties”, the value for “Maximum Workbook Size” is located. Increase the value. Notice that the file is in MB.

Click “OK”.
Don’t forget to make the value high enough so that you don’t have to face such issue in the future.
