How to get rid of Error code 1000-0146?

Hi, due to a problem in my Dell inspiron 1150, I ran a diagnostic test holding the function key down and the same time pressing the power button. Then a message popped up showing error code 1000-0146. I am totally confused with the error and could not find any solution. I will be very thankful to you if you can give me any suggestion. Thank you.

How to get rid of Error code 1000-0146?

Hi, your question seems to be missing some information in addition to the error code. I’m sure along with the error code it shows that “Start DST Short test: failed.”

DST is the acronym for Drive Self Test and is the test performing on your hard drive. The error means that your hard drive is faulty. It could be either your hard drive is damaged and needs to be replaced soon or it could also mean that there is some sort of a loose connection of your hard disk to the machine. Since it’s a laptop, it’s very seldom that it could be the second situation. My advice is to replace your hard drive.
