I think Avast Antivirus is compatible with Windows Vista, so it will work properly. Please make sure that the version you are downloading is compatible with the Vista operating system.

You may also try to update the vista operating system on your computer, because some times Windows would have made the solution so updating your operating system may some times solve the issue.
