Hello and Good Day Everyone!

Have you experienced problems with LogMeIn webcam Skype applications? I have been using logmein and Skype for almost 6 months and I never encounter a problem but recently, when I am about to use a webcam from my Skype, it just suddenly stopped working. I have tried to restart my computer but it didn’t fix the problem. I am not sure how to fix this problem. Can anyone help me please   ?

Hi Alison,

If logmein and Skype can no longer access your webcam then we can narrow down the problem to either the webcam or the driver of the device. If you have the webcam manager installed on your computer then you can try running it and see if it will fire up your device. If it won’t then you may try to uninstall and reinstall drivers. If this is an external webcam then you can try using this to another machine and see if it works. Keep us posted so that we can help you further.

Hello Alison,

Here is how you can resolve the issue with a webcam that had stopped working in Windows computer. Simply follow these steps and I hope that this will fix it permanently like it did to me.

First, you need to open REGISTRY EDITOR.
Go to the START menu, then choose RUN.
Type REGEDIT and hit the ENTER key. It will open the Registry Editor.
Find this PATH and check if there is an UpperFilters folder in there.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEMControlSet001Control
{6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}

If there is UpperFilters, open it and see if it has ksthunk line.
If there is no UpperFilters, simply add it.

HOW TO ADD IT:
Once you reached this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEMControlSet001Control
{6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}

In the right pane of the Regedit, right-click on it and select NEW.
Choose Multi-String Value and rename it as UpperFilters
Then right-click on UpperFilters (the one that you just created) and click on MODIFY.
You need to enter the value as ksthunk.
Close REGEDIT and reboot your computer.
Test to see if it works.

I hope this answered your query.

How to Fix the LogMeIn Webcam Skype Errors?

When your webcam stops working whenever you want to use it with Skype, try using the webcam’s program first to check if it’s working properly there. Normally, when you install the software for your webcam, aside from installing its driver it will also install a program where you can access the camera. You can use it to adjust the settings of the camera and to test it as well.

Run this program to check if the camera is still working. If the camera works there then the problem is with your Skype. Try reinstalling Skype or better yet just update it to the latest version. Go to Skype for Windows to download the latest.

The latest version at the moment supports Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10 both 32-bit and 64-bit. Once Skype is reinstalled or updated, run Skype and test if your webcam is working again. If the camera still doesn’t work, reinstall its driver. Click “Start,” “Control Panel,” and then “Add or Remove Programs.”

Look for your webcam software, select it, and click “Uninstall” or “Remove.” Follow the instructions then restart the computer. After booting, install your webcam software back then see if it works. If the problem continues, replace your webcam with a new one.
