I am a Lotus Notes 7 user and I have some sensitive data that I wanted to emailed securely. How do I encrypt the emails I send using lotus notes? Can someone provide me with a step-by-step on how to go about this?

The suggestion below that I will be giving is an assumption that you have already an email certificate using Internet Explorer. If not, you need to search out X.509 email certificate and you can find for a free from Thawte, or you can pay to have them from Verisign.

Open your Internet Explorer browser.  GO TO Menu Bar > choose file > select Tools > and then select User ID. Move over to the Certificates panel from the User ID dialog box. Scroll down in the Certificates Issued By list till you see the new certificates you just imported.

Choose your public key certificate (not the certificate authority certificates). When you select the right certificate, your e-mail address will appear in the Certificates Issued To list. Make sure that the "This is your default signing certificate" checkbox is selected. Click OK.
