Hello experts,

The icons showing on my desktop are too large, and I would like to change it to a smaller size.

I am using Windows 7. And also, I would like to change the screen resolution.

How do I do that?

Please help.

Thanks a lot.

Customizing your desktop icons on Windows 7 is actually very easy. In fact, you can do any of the following:

  1. Hide them
  2. Show them
  3. Resize them

In your case, I understand you would like to make these icons smaller as they are too large for you. With this, all you have to do is Right-click on the desktop, point to View then click Medium Icons. Or if you want the smallest size for your icon, choose Classic Icons instead.

In changing your screen resolution, you must first know the resolution your monitor supports, and of course the type of video card you have in your computer system.

Do you have a CRT monitor, or could you be using an LCD monitor instead?

To understand your monitor better and to be able to choose the right resolution for you, I suggest that you visit Microsoft's website for support: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14108/windows-7-change-screen-resolution.

I provide you two ways to do this

By Using of the mouse

The simplest way is to minimize all your windows so only the desktop is visible. A quick way to do this is by using the Windows key and D. Then hold down the Ctrl key and move the mouse wheel until the icons are the size you want. If you are using a laptop and don't use a mouse then on the far left of your mouse pad you should see lines going from top to bottom. If configured to, and most are by default, this will act the same as a mouse wheel.

By Using of Windows Personalize

Right click on an empty spot on your desktop and choose Personalize, beneath the themes you have 4 options, from these 4 options select Window Color, and then click the link Advanced appearance settings.

I think in this two way you could solve your problem.

Thank you.
