How do I play movies on my iPhone?

I travel a lot and I have a wide collection of movies and videos on my laptop. I tried playing them on my iPhone, since it is more portable, but only some of them work. I know I can convert each of them manually, but that would take ages.

Is there a way to watch all video formats on the iPhone?

Choose whatever you are comfortable with.
