My child uses my Laptop throughout the day and I am unable to monitor his browsing.

This is the computer for my work and I must keep it free from any virus/malware etc otherwise they can be propagated to the network of my company.

Is there any way of knowing is my computer free of spyware?

Monitor your computer's performance.  Is it unusually slow? Does it frequently hang? The computer may seem to "lock up" or run slow during regular use. It is also not uncommon to experience delays in the operating system loading to the desktop.

Check if there are popup windows in your browser.

Please also check if your browser keeps bringing you to a certain website. Also look for possible changes in your homepage.

The browser can redirect you to an unknown site. Or your set homepage can be changed without any notification.

In my case, I used to constantly get a "Virtual memory low" message, no matter what I do resolve that error, it just keeps coming back. You may want to check on that too.

With the initial signs, I'm betting you have it. Just to be certain, you may want to check on your computer's processor utilization in Task Manager, press the <CTRL>+ <ALT>+ <DEL> keys at the same time. Then click the Performance tab. Processor utilization is indicated by the CPU usage gauge. Look for utilization that is or close to a 100%.

Best thing to do at this point is to run an antispyware program.
