How could I upgrade from my Vista X32 to Win7?

Right now I have Vista on my laptop and I want to upgrade it to Windows 7. I heard that I can upgrade directly to Win 7 (not fresh install), so I do not lose my files, settings, and programs installed in Vista.

How can I do this?

Yes, you can upgrade your Windows Vista to Windows 7 without losing your files, settings and programs. Some programs are not compatible with Windows 7 because you were using Windows Vista before. You can use the upgrade option during installation of Windows 7 to a higher version of Windows 7.

Use the custom installation, you may need to have an external drive to back up some drivers and applications and install a fresh copy of Windows 7.  Try this link and I am sure that this will help you much. Upgrading to Win 7.

Make sure that all your programs and applications work on Windows 7. Look for your Windows Vista to find out if you can upgrade to Windows 7.
