How to chat with ip address?

Is there a way I can chat with friends in the same network without using a chat software?  I read somewhere that I just need the IP address and the command prompt.  I need someone to teach me how to chat with IP address.  I have a Windows XP 32 bit system.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi,

            Yes, there is a very simple command on how to send message for someone or your friend to the same network just follows these syntax: net send {name | * | /domain[:name] | /users} message. Just go to run then type CMD then the DOS or command prompt will appear then type “ net send (PC name) “ ( your message) “ example “net send PC1 “Hi there, how are you?”

You can chat through IP address. IP address chatting is usually for those users who like private and quick chat. Well i have found a video tutorial for you on how to chat via IP address. This will be easier for you to follow. 

1. Watch the YouTube Video to follow the tutorial. 

2. Alternatively visit this link to follow the written tutorial step by step.

This can be achieved within the network with the users who are logged in.
