How can I fix Civilization 5 Runtime error?

Every time I click on the load game, my game crashes on the desktop. I get a  civilization five run-time error, and that’s it. I have tried with mods, and without mods, and nothing seems to work.

If anyone could help me, that would make my day.

Hey, there I am here with some of the possible ways to fix Civilization 5 run-time error.

 

Solution1 :

Start Steam in Offline Mode

  1. Start Steam and go to Steam > Settings > Account.
  1. Please don’t check Don’t save account credentials on this computer option.
  2. Open the Steam menu and select Go Offline.
  3. Now click on Restart in Offline Mode.
  4. Start Civilization 5.
  5. If it works, close the game, go Online on Steam and start the game again.

It is a neat little workaround, and several users confirmed that it worked for them, so be sure to try it out.

 

Solution2 :

Rename the save folder

  1. Locate the Civilization save game folder on your PC.
  2. Create a copy on your Desktop just in case.
  3. Now rename the original save game folder.
  4. Try to start the game again.

Remove corrupted cloud files.

 

  1. Open Steam and go to Settings > Downloads.
  2. Uncheck Enable Steam Cloud sync.
