Dear Tanveer,

For connecting two computer, you are required some things:

1. Both computers have a LAN / Ethernet Card.

2. You have one data cable with RJ-45 connectors to connect your PCs.

Attach both computer for data cable inserted in LAN Cards and set same workgroup on both computers by clicking on control panel / system / computer name.

After this, you will able to transfer data and share all kind of files easily. If you got problem in connecting then you should set your computer IP Address by clicking on Local Area Connection Icon.

Further queries, welcome.

Kelin

It is very easy to setup a home network.

1) Get a LAN card for your Desktop-Computer. (You can get new in 325/- or a used in 150/-). Install the LAN card on your desktop computer.

2) There will a Built in LAN card in your Laptop.

3) You will need a Cross Through cable (you can get 8 foot cable in around 100/- , it will be ready made).

4) After that Connect your computers through a cable.

Now you will need to do IP settings on both of the computer.

1) On Desktop:

IP Address 192.168.1.1

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255

(Leave Default Gateway Blank)

2) On Laptop:

IP address 192.168.1.2

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255

Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

No share a folder on any computer and you can access it on the other computer.

First of all, you did not include in your question which Operating System are you using and if both computers connects on the internet under the same network. If both are connected to the internet and you want to share your files, just simply run the Network Setup Wizard on two PCs and then create a home network. And then, right-click the folder that you wish to share and then click on Properties> Sharing. Go to your Windows Explorer and access the shared folders. You can also try to enable the File and Printer Sharing on two computers and then go to My Network Places to see the other PC's network.

Another option which I think will be much faster is to transfer your files using a USB Flash disk. Just simply copy your files to your USB Flash disk and then open it to the computer where you want to share your files.
