When changing Motherboards I often see that there has been a lot of effort put into putting red insulating washers on all the mounting holes. Is there a good reason for doing this? And if it is necessary why don't the manufactures use bushes in the holes.Help me!

It is very much important to install insulating washers on all mounting holes that are connected to the motherboard. This is because to avoid any electrical touch which will cause an electrical short. If your motherboard is connected to the casing via iron or any conductive metal it is compulsory to use these insulating washers.

It is also a method to transfer the heat generated in the motherboard to the casing to as a cooling method. But nowadays manufactures has introduced a plastic/fiber mounting clip that replace the troublesome washers and nails. These are very easy to install and take less time and effort. You can purchase them from the Computer hardware dealer.
