How can i connect my pc & laptop

I bought a new laptop  and I need to collect files from the hard disk of my desktop computer.  How can I connect my laptop to my desktop's hard disk ?  I don't even have Bluetooth. 

What is the solution to this problem?

If you want to connect your computer to a laptop there are two ways that are common, and that is connecting using LAN (Local area network) or connecting using Bluetooth.

 

Connecting through LAN no need any software, what you need is the necessary hardware Ethernet card, LAN card or NIC – network interface card, twisted pair cable with register jack 45 crimped through the cross over crimping on either side of the wire.

 

The second option will require you to have Bluetooth dongle, this can be external or inbuilt, the Bluetooth dongle must be connected to the computer or laptop and sometime you will need to install blue tooth drivers if not available.

Aside from the above ways, there is more option to connect computer to laptop

Usually your computer or laptop will have inbuilt Ethernet card, but if don’t you can buy one, with it you can connect your computer and laptop directly using a straight LAN cable or cross over LAN cable. Connecting using straight LAN cable possible if you have a network or a network switch between computers, and cross over LAN cable used when you don’t have network hub.

 

The third option would be connected using wireless network, this is possible only if you have a wireless card in your computer and laptop

 

A fourth option is using special USB cable, this cable can connect computers and laptop and it will allow you to transfer data between them. This one is good price and you can easily find it on Ebay. 

 

PS: For the first option, currently most model NIC can detect which pair they need to use TX or Rx, and this mean you don’t need to choose between crossover cable or straight cable."

Hi,

You can connect your PC to the Laptop, just use a crossover cable to directly connect from the two network devices like the PC and the Laptop or either in a single computer and that can be the network.

The Ethernet crossover cables are usually used for checking the two devices if the network, switch and hub are not present. The Ethernet crossover cables can receive signals or receive wires crossed and the networks internal wiring to the Ethernet crossover cables reverses the incoming and outgoing signals from the two devices. Ethernet crossover cables can be used directly to the network connection from the home networks without the hub.
