Help with VMware and ESX

Techyv Experts,

First let me give me the details about my setup:

I’m running Vcenter 4.0 and ESX 3.5 U2. I’m trying to reconnect one of the hosts, which was in disconnected status. I got this error.

I tried the following things:

1. Restarted mgmt-VMware and VMware-VPXA which did not help
2. Tried uninstalling and re-installing the vpx agent manually
3. Also checked on DNS and network settings. Everything appears fine.

Do I need to upgrade ESX?

Error:

A general system error occurred: internal error: vmodl.fault.HostCommunication”

Thanks for your help,

Jacintha

What you have to do. You have to renew the VMware operating running.

Renew that or update that then go to your DNS and check the setting if possible implement again because most of the time the information did not get the update and become older for DNS and the DNS stop working.

That will help you solve your problem. And you will never face this kind of problem again.

Hope you will get my point and thanks for asking in techyv.com.

Thanks

Hello jacintha,

This occurs because of resolution the problem. So you have to correctly configure the name resolution.

In case of the DNS server you should run nslookup for a particular address.

If that does not show the desired IP address then contact with your DNS admin of you can configure the name resolution from:

“%SystemRoot%system32driversetchosts”.

Also can change name resolution from:

“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParametersDataBasePath.”

Also you can update ESXi 4.0 and also vCenter 4.1. Now configure it using vCnter 4.1. The error will not pop up again.

Thank you,
