Hi, I would like to inquire whether I could use a hard drive that uses Windows 98 in a computer that uses Windows XP. Is there a way I can do this without any virus affecting the new computer from the old one? Thanks for the help.

Hello Qamar,

It is possible to use the same hard drive that you have used in Win 98 PC in the new PC with Win Xp. But to make it optimum and free from any errors you have to Re-format the hard drive to NTFS or FAT 32 format. You can use win Xp disc or dvd to do so. Hello dear,

First, I wanted to tell you that Windows 98 cannot be installed on a partition with the NTFS file system, and Windows XP can be installed on NTFS as well as FAT32. You can use your hard disk, which was used for Windows 98, for windows XP. Just be careful when formatting it to install Windows XP. Try to use an antivirus software for better performance. Thanks.
