Hi there,

I have installed both windows 8 and Ubuntu 13.10 in my Dell Latitude E6410 which has a GSM SIM card slot, BroadBand connection is okay when on windows 8, but when I login onto Ubuntu, I can't find a way to connect to the internet using the GSM SIM card, what could be the problem here and how can I connect to the internet using the GSM SIM card slotted in the computer?

Generally new Ubuntu versions try to detect a modem within few seconds. And if it does not then Wvdial package may help you. The Wvdial package does not come preinstalled and you have to install this separately. You can also download the package and install automatically via Ubuntu Software Center.

Or, please follow the following steps:
Make a new mobile broadband connection and connect.
Then create a network manager CLi start-up script for your connection.
Next, change the start-up script file permissions.
Try to update your system start-up defaults in order to include your new script as a service.
Finally, reboot your machine to complete the installation process.
